Microsoft has ended its support for Windows 7, meaning that anyone still using the operating system will no longer receive technical support, software updates or security updates and fixes.

It’s one of the most popular computer operating systems around, but if you still use Windows 7, you could be leaving yourself vulnerable to dangerous cybersecurity risks.

Microsoft explained: “After 10 years, support for Windows 7 is coming to an end on 14 January 2020.

“While you could continue to use your PC running Windows 7, without continued software and security updates, it will be at greater risk for viruses and malware.”

If you continue to use Windows 7, you could find yourself targeted by cybercriminals who will now be looking to attack vulnerabilities left in the Windows 7 operating system

By using an unsupported operating system, users expose themselves to cybersecurity risks as Microsoft will no longer resolve security flaws found on the system, provide technical support or issue software updates.

“Cybercriminals can use this to their advantage by identifying any flaws in the system and potentially accessing consumer’s data and information.”

Microsoft advises that the best way for users to stay secure is to upgrade to Windows 10.

We have some good news however in that we can upgrade your windows 7 machine to windows 10 and it will be much cheaper than replacing the machine or buying a Windows 10 licence and doing it yourself.
