Laptop and netbook repairs are a little more complicated than your bog standard PC which whilst they are all different in make and design all take very much the same components and it doesn't matter what make you buy they all fit.
With laptops you have to make sure that you get the correct part to match the exact make and model of machine, on top of that they all come apart differently and are generally a little more complex than desktop PS's
You will be pleased then that we have been repairing and upgrading laptops since 2000 and netbooks since they hit the market.
Below you will find information about the most common laptop repairs that we carry out and the associated costs involved. If you have a fault that isn't listed then please contact us for information and a quote.
This is one of the most common repairs that we carry out, replacing a damaged screen after it has been cracked or smashed somehow. We can source a screen for any make and model of netbook, notebook or laptop and have them delivered next day. To be able to offer you the correct quote we need to know the make and model number of your machine and also the screen size in inches measured from corner to corner. Please send the details to us using our contacts page.
If you already have the screen and would like it fitted then we are more than happy to do this at a cost of £45
We regularly see a multitude of laptops with broken hinges and this usually coincides with parts of the plastic casing being bent, cracked and broken. We can repair any laptop and netbook hinge and case faults but we do need to know in advance the make and model of your machine so that we can quote for the parts required. You can send us the information required via our contact page.
With the regular movement of laptops and netbooks and the constant plugging in and unplugging of the power adapter then some of the power jacks fastened into the side of the case can become dislodged making it impossible to charge or power up the machine. We have a wealth of experience in repairing these broken power jacks and we can also repair or replace faulty power adapters.
We have also seen faults with laptops where they are getting too hot to hold, shutting themselves down or making horrible noises. This is almost always a fault with the cooling fan that reduces the temperature of the heatsink and subsequently keeps the processor cool. Getting at these fans can be very awkward making repair or replacement a little tricky. We do of course cap our repair prices at a maximum of £45 plus parts if required.
We spend a lot of time repairing machines that have unfortunatley been infected with a virus and malware, this can happen even if you have antivirus software installed and upto date due to the ever changing nature of the threats. If a virus is released and spread today it may be 48 hours before the anti virus manafacturers detect and write the sftware to remove it. If you are unlucky in that time frame you could get infected.
If you bring your laptop to us, we will remove the virus, make sure that you have adequate security and that it is updating correctly. We will also give your machine a service which includes clearing unneccesary startup programmes, making sure the system is completely upto date and removing all unneccesary temporary files which will speed up your machine.
We dont charge extra for a supposed faster service that still takes 2 or 3 days instead we turn around all of our PC repairs within 48 hours even if that means us working until midnight sometimes because we know what its like when you are without your Laptop. Whats more we have capped the charges at a maximum of £45, some of these viruses can take hours to find and remove and some result in windows needing to be re-installed after we have backed up your data however you are safe in the knowledge that all you will pay is £45. Sometimes computers get a little confused as to where they are and how they connect to the internet and no matter what you do you struggle to get it to re-connect. The first thing to try is to shut all the computers in the house (including games consoles or anything else connected to the router) down and then unplug the router for 1 minute before powering back up. Let the router reset before turning the computer on and trying to connect to the internet.
If this doesn't work then our engineer will need to come out as they will need to look at the computer on site and look at the configuration of the router at the same time. Similar pricing structur applies however it is £35 for an hour or £50 for anything over that.
If your machine is connecting to the internet but wont display a web page then please see the windows problems section above.
